Model Railroading gives a lot of different kind of realistic simulations most of which is not possible in other miniature art form. Along with the static 3 dimensional elements of a scenery, model railroad also provides the dynamic element of trains (with today's technology with all types of sound), opportunity to simulate realistic railroad operation including accurate portrayal of railroad signals, and if someone wants to go further even moving vehicles with accurate traffic control. In my mind, it is the ultimate 3 dimensional animation that you can create.
